The Coastal Riders Mongol Rally team has completed the rally in one piece and are now home all safe and sound! Below is a little recap of the epic journey, this is inspiring stuff!

Follow the teams exploits here

Starting on the clean streets of Helsinki, this transcontinental adventure crossed 1/3 of the Earth’s surface, going through Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Russia before ultimately ending in Mongolia. Summarizing such an adventure is a difficult task, but here it goes: 6 flat tires, 17 countries, 2 continents, 1 small fiat, 3 people, 2 deserts, 6 mountain ranges, 17 000 km and too many great experiences to count.

We have received our second update from the team. Finding reliable internet was difficult so we will have to live with one photo and a quick summary:

“Iran was awesome, Turkmenistan was interesting, but utterly bizarre, and Uzbekistan has some very friendly police and military for a police state. Samarqand today, then Tashkent, then we trek through the Ferghana Valley. Let dictatorship hopscotch continue!”

This summer, Coastal Riders sponsored The Mighty Yaks,  a team of 3 who are participating in the Mongol Rally. The Mongol Rally is a 16 000km car adventure from the Czech Republic to Mongolia. Participants are able to choose their own routes and travel across some of the most destitute roads in the world. Follow The Mighty Yaks as they leave Turkey and venture through Iran (We love the sticker job on the car!).
This photo is taken at Cappadocia, Turkey. Cappadocia is the site of one of the world’s oldest Christian settlements, founded after Christians fled persecution after the death of Jesus. The settlement is also famous for its magnificent rock formation that stand out amidst the desert, which the early Cappadocians used for homes and churches.
Stay tuned for more updates, the next stop is IRAN!
