This Past Saturday Matix Clothing presented the Second Annual Lord of the Lines SNOW hosted by Mount Seymour and it did not disappoint.

The Tyler and the Park Staff at Mt. Seymour built an Insane Park and Mother Nature Cooperated with Great Spring Conditions and even some sunshine.

The event kicked off with the 15 and under Category, with some solid shredding from the younger guys and some serious maneuvers went down. Stand outs included Kevin Dzah, Ben Hope, Quinton Fast and Quinn Dubois.

Top 3 15 and Under:
3rd Ben Hope
2nd Quinn Dubois
1st Quinton Fast

Next the older guys took to the course and they absolutely destroyed it! There was too many hammers dropped and stand out riders to name but it you can take our word for it that it was crazy. After some debate and conversation the finals were, Matt Heneghan, Brady Smith, Zac Dolinski, Nic Heringa, Adam Frank, Matt Butel and Stefan “TACO” Alverez. It was a heated battle for top three in the finals, with all the riders linking dope lines. There was a slight confusion at the award ceremony, because when we went to award Brady Smith with his 3rd place check he wasn’t around to collect it as he had left to catch a flight to california, so we passed his winnings on to 4th place. Sorry Brady.

Top 3 16 and Over:
3rd: Zac Dolinski
2nd: Adam Frank
1st: Matt Heneghan – Repeat Winner!

After it was all over everyone headed to the bottom of the Mystery Chair to enjoy a cold beverage and Watch Mark Bannock and Wes Makepeace play a free show. Epic way to end a great day!

Thank you to Mitch Francis from Supra Distribution and Matix Clothing for their unparallelled Support of this event!
Thank you to Nadia and Simon at Mt Seymour who made the day run smooth and hooked us up with a beer garden and Free Show!
Thank you to Tyler Nichol and the Mt Seymour Park Crew for their countless hours setting up the park to make the event a success!

TIME FOR A CHANGE!

Change your underwear and Change Lives

A heart stopping amazing event that is quite likely the most remarkable thing that will be happening at these locations on this day.

A handful of independent Vancouver businesses are creating a donation drive for the Big Brothers and Women’s Shelters in Vancouver in a very unique manner.

The PeakFM radio has just changed their frequency from 100.5 to 102.7 and is challenging everyone to bring clothes, household items, toys, back to school goods and non perishable food items to one of 5 locations throughout the day.

in exchange for the donations people will be able to choose between a pair of the worlds best men’s underwear from MyPakage (value $25.00) or a pair of sunglasses or reading glasses donated by Ryders from their sister company Suntech.

There will be games and prizes at each location. There will be sales and promotions.

for example:

Coastal Riders will have a great selection of their 2011/2012 Snowboard Gear on Sale, up to 50% OFF!

Enter to win the Grand Prize of a dream trip. You will get to choose between heli-skiing, taking your car to a race track, a beach fantasy and an European Vacation.

Join us for fun.  Come to make a difference. Win some prizes. Get some gear.

LEDGE -N- DAIRY!

Converse, Color Magazine Olio Festival and Coastal Riders want you to Milk Your Tricks for all They’re Worth!

Just one of the many amazing Olio Festival skate events, on Saturday, Sept. 22,  Color, Coastal Riders and CONS are hopping on the train down to the Chuck Bailey Youth Park to host a contest where consistency = cash.

In this new take on an old skateboard match tradition, skaters must figure out a way to milk their bag of tricks for all it’s worth! No more of that “huck and hope” style of trickery here… you’re gonna need to land your tricks in order to win some of that cash and product ($1000 value). So stick with what you know and you might get paid!

The Format:

  • 3 Best Tricks on 3 obstacles (a little something for the tranny lovers)
  • The Ledge Contest: open skate + “Make A Train”
  • BEST OVERALL

BEST OVERALL

(Most consistent / Most tricks landed all day)

Strategy is the key! Judges will be watching all day and counting every trick you land, awarding points for consistency and difficulty. Variety is not necessarily the spice of life and bailing on a trick you have no business trying will cost you. Also, sliding or grinding the whole ledge might just bump you ahead of that dude who only hit the last half! Stick with what you know—judges will be counting the number tricks landed against your failed attempts.

“MAKE A TRAIN” Contest

(1st, 2nd, 3rd place awarded)

For 15 mins straight, all participants will attack the ledge, one after another. You fall, you’re out! The last 3 standing will be judged on the consistency and difficulty of the tricks they put down in this time. Unlike a Best Trick contest however, judges will count all landed tricks equally (based on difficulty of course), so your strategy is important!

Sure, you can do 20 straight 50-50s if you want, and make the Top 3, but that’s not gonna guarantee you First Place. If some dude comes correct with 5 perfect nollie nosegrinds, he might just take you out! Figure out your one, solid trick you can do every time, and milk it! Take a risk though and you might just be rewarded!

Register to skate with a $5 cash donation or canned-good equivalent to the City of Surrey Food Bank then enjoy the music, the BBQ and FREE ice cream and water provided by Happy Water.

RSVP on Facebook here.
